Japanese Twitter user @lingerie1108 is a lingerie saleswoman who is very committed to her profession, and describes herself as a person who loves to provide her customers with lingerie that fits, more than anything else in life. So when she becomes aware of a misconception about the female form, she is compelled to point it out, leading to a recent post in which she shows the breasts of two women wearing bras.
“There is a tendency to misunderstand breast size. When they hear ‘E Cups,’ most people picture the image on the left, but the image on the right is what E Cups actually look like. The image on the left shows the J Cups“, the publication wrote.
In other words, according to @lingerie1108When looking at a pair of breasts, people often imagine breasts of a given cup size to be larger than they actually are. Put another way, when looking at a pair of breasts, they estimate their cup size to be smaller than it actually is. Therefore, the user added:
“There will always be men who say things like “Your breasts don’t look like E-Cups at all!” or “Haha, are you sure you measured them right?” or some other crazy theory. I’m here to tell women who get told such things by clueless guys that it’s not worth letting their stupidity hurt you“.
One of the most popular responses to this post wrote: “My breasts are D or E, but a guy told me “They’re small. They’re A or B, right?” I almost hit him, haha. Don’t use manga and anime sizes on me.“. This comment refers to the tendency for the cup sizes of anime characters to correspond to much larger chest sizes than in real life.
The basic logic is roughly “A and B cups are small, C and D are medium, and E and above are large.“, but the stylized nature of the artistic design of most popular anime series means that a character with an average-sized chest by anime standards usually has proportions that would be significantly more busty than average in real life.
